David Acutt

Dave Acutt is an accomplished Finance Director at Leeward Management Limited, where he plays a pivotal role in overseeing financial operations and corporate governance. With a passion for technology and its offshore applications, Dave serves as an independent board member for prominent Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands technology companies, foundations, and related offshore structures. His expertise in finance, audit, cyber security, and compliance matters adds significant value to the client boards he advises.

Drawing from a wealth of experience in entity formation, management, and regulatory advisory, Dave's clients benefit from his insightful guidance and strong relationships with market service providers. He is involved in Leeward's governance practice, serving as director and supervisor for various entities. Overseeing a portfolio of dynamic hedge funds and cutting-edge Web3 companies, innovative DAOs, and FinTech firms actively developing solutions in decentralized finance, decentralized physical infrastructure networks, real-world asset integration, stablecoin adoption, and next-generation gaming experiences.

Dave's professional journey began at Deloitte South Africa, where he honed his skills before expanding his horizons through assignments in Prague, Toronto, and the Cayman Islands. Prior to joining Leeward, he held the esteemed positions of Finance and IT Director and Chief Information Officer (CIO) at one of the Cayman Islands' longest-standing Corporate Service providers. Additionally, Dave served as the Finance and Operations Manager at the Maples Group, further enriching his industry expertise.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Dave's passions extend to environmental conservation, the ocean, and sports. He firmly believes in the power of sports to uplift communities holistically. In line with this belief, he dedicates his time as the treasurer of the Cayman Junior Rugby Charitable Trust, actively promoting rugby among youth from diverse backgrounds.

Academically, Dave holds a Bachelor of Commerce and an Honours in Finance with Certified Theory of Accounting from the esteemed University of Cape Town and the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, respectively. As a testament to his dedication and professionalism, he is an approved person and Professional Director registered pursuant to the Directors Registration and Licensing Act, 2014. Moreover, Dave is a Notary Public and holds citizenships in South Africa, the United Kingdom, and British Overseas Territories.
